![]() Great as FastStone Image Viewer is, it's no raw converter. It was all pink! Hopefully this will be fixed in a future version. I did get a small scare when I hit the A key to view a raw from the 5D Mk III. I like that it lets you view the raw files, as I have finally decided to shoot only raw. It is great for all the reasons stated and a few more, such as being able to compare two or more shots at once. I have been using Faststone as my default viewer for quite a while, and I have also introduced it to friends. If I'm at a show and want to quickly post some photos, I'm going to use this- assuming I get any good shots.Ĭanon 5D Mark III, Canon 7D, 40D, Canon SL-1, Canon 300mm f2.8L IS USM, 100-400L IS USM, f2.8 70-200L IS USM, Canon 24-105L IS, Canon 40mm f2.8 Pancake, Rokinon 14mm f2.8, Tokina 16-28mm F2.8 At-X PRO, Canon 10-22, Canon 28-135, Canon 18-55, Battery Grips, lots of other junk FastStone does do a good job with the jpg editing. ![]() If I need to do any major adjustments to the photos, I'll do it with Lightroom. ![]() It's much faster to sort through large files than other software that I have. On my (not very fast PC) it takes 12 seconds to load, decode and render an image from the raw data. If you want it to open the raw image then try pressing the 'A' key while it's displaying a full-screen image. It extracts the jpeg that's embedded in the raw file and displays that. When you open a cr2 file in FastStone it doesn't access the raw data at all. Indeed, I suspect you've not actually used it as a raw processor. Er, while I think FastStone is a magnificent jpeg viewer, it really is not very good as a raw processor.
